About NewsFavored
Most news is built to make you anxious, because anxious readers keep scrolling. NewsFavored runs the other way: every story here is something that actually went right, told straight, with a link back to where it came from.
We don't run press releases as news and we don't write anything up just because a brand wants coverage. Each story gets rewritten in our own words after checking the original reporting, so you're not reading a copy-paste of someone else's article.
Right now we're a small, India-first operation covering people, animals, science, and communities doing something worth knowing about. If you've got a story like that, use the contact page and tell us about it.
What we cover
Our core is good news: people, communities, science, and conservation stories that went right. Alongside that, we publish explainers on technology, finance, sports, and entertainment that India is searching for: what happened, what the numbers actually are, and what it means for you. Not every explainer is cheerful, but every one is written to inform rather than to alarm.
Who runs NewsFavored
NewsFavored is founded and written by Rajiv Banik. Every story carries a byline and a publication date, and stories that are revised later show an "Updated" date.
How we verify and source stories
- Every story is checked against original reporting, official statements, or primary data before we publish, and links to its source at the bottom of the page.
- Figures, dates, and quotes are taken from those sources, not estimated. Where numbers are projections rather than confirmed facts, we say so in the text.
- Analysis and predictions are clearly labelled as analysis, separate from the reported facts.
- Photos are licensed under Creative Commons or are free to use, and each one is credited. Where a photo is illustrative rather than of the event itself, it's marked "Representative image".
- We don't accept payment for coverage, and we don't publish sponsored content as news.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and update the story's date. To report an error, email hello@newsfavored.com with the story link and what needs correcting.
